Animal Adventure Park has released footage of April and its calf. April’s calf is a healthy male, currently two weeks old. The event has been anticipated by the zoo and fans. On Sunday, Animal Adventure Park Zoo has posted on Facebook a brief update of the calf and April.
According to their statement, April’s calf is healthy, in good conditions and a photo is showing one of the zoo keepers carrying for the calf. Also on the post, fans are given the opportunity to go on www.nameaprilscalf.com and vote for their favorite name option for the male calf.
April’s fans can also watch a live stream with her every Tuesday from 4 p.m to 8 p.m and see how the animal is doing. For those less familiar with April, they should know that April is a reticulated giraffe and she is famous worldwide after footages with her pregnant and then the birth of her calf was streamed online, on YouTube.
April was born in captivity, at the Catskill Game Farm and she met Oliver, her “lover” when she was transferred to the Animal Adventure Park. She was 13 years old and he was 3 years old when they began their “romance”, which resulted wither 15 months pregnancy and her adorable male calf, which has yet to receive a name.
For those who want to meet April in persona and enjoy spending some time with other wild animals, the Animal Adventure Park is located in Harpursville, New York. This year the zoo has new additions: South American monkey, giraffe encounter deck, black bear exhibit, African honey badger. The interactive animal park also believes in educating children on wildlife and to promote close-up encounters with wild animals. The animal park has over 200 animals belonging to 70 species.
